The Defender 110 High
Capacity Pick-Up is one of the most distinctive and practical variants of Land
Rover’s legendary utility vehicle. Based on the proven 110 chassis but fitted
with a wider and longer load bed than the standard pick-up, the High Capacity
was designed to offer increased carrying capacity while retaining the Defender’s
renowned off-road ability and go-anywhere character.
Combining rugged mechanical simplicity with genuine working
versatility, the 110 High Capacity has long been favoured by agricultural,
commercial and military users and is now an increasingly desirable choice for
enthusiasts seeking a usable and characterful classic Land
Rover.
Our Vendor tells us that this characterful
old Landy has been a faithful companion for the last 28 years and has been well
cared for throughout its ownership. Accompanying the truck is its original
owner’s handbook together with an eight-stamp service record, providing evidence
of regular maintenance during its earlier life. The MOT history also shows that
it has covered a notably modest and consistent mileage year on
year.
Adding to its practicality, the truck comes
with a useful Ifor Williams canopy fitted over the load bed, making it
considerably more versatile for everyday use while remaining easily removable
when carrying taller loads. A tracker and immobiliser has also been fitted to
strengthen security.
As with many 28-year-old
Land Rovers, this HCPU is not without its areas requiring attention and would
benefit from ongoing remedial work, most notably to the chassis. It recently
failed its latest MOT due to corrosion, and this should therefore be taken into
consideration by prospective buyers.
After nearly
three decades together, our vendor has decided that the time has come to part
company, simply due to no longer having the time required to take the truck on
as an ongoing project. It is now offered with the hope that a new custodian will
see the potential in this honest, low-mileage and exceptionally well-provenanced
Defender and give it the restoration and lease of life it
deserves.
