1959 Morris Minor 1000
Series III; , invoices totalling almost £3,000; driving while on site; The
odometer currently displays 62,575 miles, although this cannot be
verified
First registered in January
1959, this charming Morris Minor 1000 Series III is an excellent example of the
much-loved British ‘Moggy’. Finished in Grey with an attractive Terracotta Red
leather interior, it is powered by the 948cc engine and has had just four former
keepers from new.
The car has a particularly
interesting history, having originally been purchased from Moores Garage, South
Street, South Molton, with an impressive collection of documentation
accompanying the sale. Service records from Moore’s Garage Ltd in North Devon
dating from 1960 to 1966, together with a stamped Passport to Service book entry
from 1969, provide a fascinating insight into the car's early life. There are
also numerous old MOT certificates, invoices totalling almost £3,000, tax discs
dating back to 1970, and various books, manuals and period motoring
literature.
The odometer currently
displays 62,575 miles, although this cannot be
verified.
The Minor 1000 was introduced
with its larger 948cc engine, providing improved performance over the earlier
803cc cars and making the little Morris considerably more capable for
longer-distance motoring. The Series III's revised specification and improved
driving characteristics helped establish the Minor as one of Britain's most
popular small family cars.
Having been clearly cherished
throughout its life, this example presents particularly well and was started,
driven and stopped on site for photography and the accompanying
video.
With its attractive colour
combination, low number of former keepers and exceptional history file, this is
a particularly appealing example of the iconic Morris Minor 1000. An ideal
classic for shows, rallies or simply enjoying traditional British motoring, this
charming ‘Moggy’ offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of
British automotive history.
