1950, this charming Ford Prefect is a delightful example of Ford's popular
post-war family saloon. Powered by a 1,172cc four-cylinder engine coupled to a
three-speed manual gearbox, it is finished in what appears to be Sportsman Green
with a contrasting Tan Brown interior.
The car has had just four
former keepers and currently shows 54,062 miles on the speedometer, although
this cannot be verified. The history file includes a selection of invoices
documenting some of the work carried out over the last few
years.
While with us for photography
and a short video, the Prefect started, drove and stopped as expected,
demonstrating that it remains a usable and enjoyable example of this classic
British saloon.
With its unmistakable period
styling and simple mechanical layout, the Ford Prefect makes an appealing
introduction to pre-MOT classic motoring and would be equally at home on local
Sunday runs, classic rallies or simply being enjoyed as a charming piece of
post-war motoring history.
