First registered in August
1970, this distinctive Reliant Scimitar GTE is powered by a 2,994cc six-cylinder
engine coupled to a manual transmission. Finished in Red, the car was originally
Green before being repainted in August 1985. It has had six former keepers, with
the current owner acquiring the car in 2023.
The speedometer
currently displays 53,656 miles, although this mileage cannot be verified.
Accompanying the car are a selection of manuals and invoices documenting some of
the work carried out over the years.
While with us for photography
and a short video, the Scimitar started, drove and stopped as
expected.
Please note that the paintwork
is showing some blistering to the bonnet, as can be seen in the accompanying
photographs. This is an honest and straightforward example that retains plenty
of its distinctive 1970s character and remains an appealing basis for further
enjoyment or improvement.
With its unusual styling,
practical GTE shooting-brake body and characterful six-cylinder engine, this
Scimitar offers an interesting alternative to the more familiar British sports
cars of the period and would make an enjoyable addition to any classic car
collection.
